Understanding, growth, and healing
Bright Owl Therapy
Welcome
An Introduction
Hello, I’m Kristian. I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist working with adults in Abergavenny, online, and by telephone. People seek therapy for many reasons. You might be feeling anxious, low in mood, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns that leave you frustrated or unsure how to move forward. Sometimes the difficulty is clear, other times it is harder to name, just a sense that something in life or in you does not quite fit.
How I Work
I provide a calm and supportive space where we explore what is happening in your life. We work together to understand your experiences, notice patterns, and develop ways of coping that feel useful for you. Therapy is not about being told what to do, it is about thinking and reflecting together, gradually discovering what helps you feel more steady and capable.
I draw on a range of approaches, including CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic, and relational thinking, and adapt what we use to fit your needs. The heart of therapy is the relationship between us, which helps make sense of patterns, emotions, and experiences that shape your life.
Areas I Commonly Support
Anxiety and stress, including worry, panic, and tension
Low mood, depression, and self-esteem challenges
Coping with life transitions or relational difficulties
Processing trauma, abuse, or relational wounds
Who This is For
My work is most effective for people who are willing to engage with the process, curious about understanding themselves, and ready to explore what might begin to shift. It is okay to feel lost, overwhelmed, or unsure, motivation can take many forms, and therapy is about finding your way at a pace that feels right.
“I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.”

About Me
Hello, I’m Kristian
I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist (BACP) with over thirteen years’ experience supporting adults in NHS and charitable services. I now work in private practice with adults face to face in Abergavenny, Wales, or Online and by Telephone.
I work with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, relational challenges, and the effects of past trauma. My approach is integrative and relational, blending CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, person-centred, and existential perspectives. The focus is always on what works for you and the relationship between us, which helps us explore patterns, emotions, and experiences shaping your life.
I work best with clients who are motivated to engage, curious about themselves, and open to reflective exploration. Together we notice what is happening, develop ways to cope, and find what makes a difference.
Services
-

Face to Face Sessions
I offer face-to-face counselling sessions in Abergavenny, providing a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings. Each session is tailored to your individual needs, allowing you to work at your own pace.
-

Online and Telephone Appointments
I offer one-to-one online and telephone therapy sessions, providing convenient, accessible, and flexible support wherever you are in the UK or internationally. They are designed to fit around your schedule and lifestyle and are ideal if you prefer the comfort of your own environment or have commitments that make travelling difficult.
-

Walk or Wheel and Talk
Walk or Wheel and Talk sessions offer the opportunity to move outdoors while engaging in therapy. Being in nature can help ease tension, promote reflection, and support emotional regulation. These sessions are particularly helpful for clients who find it easier to talk while walking or who benefit from a less formal therapeutic setting.
-

Individual Coaching and Organisational Training
I provide individual coaching to help you build confidence, emotional resilience, and balance in your personal or professional life. Coaching can focus on developing clarity, managing performance stress, or navigating transitions and change.
I also design and deliver bespoke mental health and wellbeing training for organisations. These sessions support teams to strengthen communication, emotional awareness, and wellbeing at work, informed by my background in NHS mental health services and psychological education.

Practicalities
If we decide to work together after our initial call, we’ll agree a session time, and I’ll send you a short therapy agreement to review and sign before or at your first session. A deposit is required to confirm your booking. This helps reserve your session time and ensures the room is ready for you.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place weekly to begin with. Face-to-face sessions are scheduled based on local room availability, and I’ll do my best to find a time that works for you.
If you have any questions about how the process works, I’m always happy to answer them openly and supportively.
